Weekly Sadhana:
How do we fall prey to unrighteousness and how should we guard ourselves from the same?

The temptation to ignore Dharma grows from egoism and the acceptance of false values. The wish to satisfy the lower desire is the root of adharma (unrighteousness). This wish takes hold of you slyly, pretending to be a comrade come to save you, or like a servant come to attend on you, or like a counsellor come to warn you. Wickedness has a thousand tricks to capture your heart. You must be ever alert against the temptation; you often remind others of Dharma when you desire to squeeze some advantage from them. You must remember not only the rights that Dharma confers but also the duties it imposes.
Any act that is done with purity in thought, word and deed is Right Conduct (Dharma) ~ Baba, - Divine Discourse, Apr 15 1964.

Center Membership and Center Officer Selection
Sai Center Membership Signup and Sai Center Office Bearer Selection:

Selection Process for Sai Center Office Bearers for 2015–2017 Term
Sairam Everyone,
The current committee will be completing their term at the end of Feb 2015.  It is time to select the new committee for the 2015 -2017 term.
We will be conducting Selection Process for the 2015 – 2017 term as per the USA Sri Sathya Sai Center Guidelines. Please find enclosed the attachment that has the Operations Manual for Centers and Groups of International Sathya Sai Organization. Guidelines.
Choose men and women who have unshaken faith in this present Avatar, with this Name and Form. The leaders of these units lead because they have the vision and the yearning, not because they have the votes or the purse. The bliss they derive is the only reward they are after. Offices should not be regarded as positions of authority or as ‘prizes’ for devotion. They should be accepted with humility and exercised with love……. Sathya Sai Baba

As mentioned in the Guidelines, a Sathya Sai Center has five officers: President, Vice President, and a coordinator for each wing of the Center: Devotion Coordinator, Education Coordinator, and Service Coordinator. The duties of the five officers are captured in the enclosed document.
For the Selection Process for the Office Bearers for the term of 2015-2017, please find enclosed a few important points with key actions and dates:

 1.   All members are requested to fill the Columbus Sai Center Membership Form. This form will be available at the center every Sunday for the next few weeks. The membership form has a specific question that asks each member to indicate if they are interested in being part of the center committee.

 2.   Week of Feb 8th – The selection committee will review all the membership forms submitted as of Sunday, Feb 8th and will identify those individuals who have expressed interest in being part of the committee. The selection committee will reach out to each of these individuals and identify their area of interest that they would like to serve in.

3.   Feb 15th 2015 – The selection committee will announce the names of the individuals who have expressed to hold an office along with their preference after the morning Bhajans. In the event the center activities are cancelled due to weather, an email will be sent out the week of Feb 15th.

4.   Feb 22nd  – A ballot box will be available at the center for members to select the new office bearers in a form that will be available.

5.   Week of Feb 22nd – The selection committee will count the results of the votes and reach out to each of the individuals with the maximum nominations to gain their acceptance of the position.

6.   Mar 1st 2015 – The results of the new office bearers will be announced at the center after the Bhajans. The new committee will commence their term immediately.

Dr. Mohan, Amar Kumar and Nandakumar have agreed to help with facilitation of the selection process.
If there are any questions, please contact any one of the selection committee members.

Chili recipe:

------------------------------------------------------------------

Spaghetti recipe

Ingredients

v  Spaghetti (dry, 2lbs)

v  Salt (to taste)

v  Diced zuchinni (2)

v  Dice yellow squash (2)

v  Chopped onion (1/2)

v  Colored peppers (1, optional)

v  Prego/Ragu Sauce (2 bottles)

Note: These are some general guidelines for cooking spaghetti. Do check with the instructions on the pasta packet as each of them may require different cooking times

 ·         Add 8 quarts of water, 1-2 tsps of salt and a teaspoon of olive or vegetable oil into a large stock pot

·         Bring the water to boil

·         Add 2lbs of dry spaghetti pasta into the boiling water. Note: Don’t break the pasta; it will soften up within 30 seconds and fit into the pot.

·         Stir the pasta. As the pasta starts to cook, stir it well with the tongs so the noodles don’t stick to each other (or the pot).

·         Test the pasta by tasting it (Follow the cooking time on the package, but always taste pasta before draining to make sure the texture is right. Pasta cooked properly should be al dente—a little chewy.

·         Drain the cooked pasta in a colander and run noodles under cold water to stop the cooking. Leave it with some cold water to prevent it from sticking and set aside

·         Heat quarter cup olive oil

·         Add 2 tsps of cumin seeds and let it crackle

·         Add the vegetables and saute’ them till they are cooked

·         Add cooked spaghetti, the sauce and salt (to taste).

·         Mix well and bring everything to a simmer

·    Turn-off heat and is ready to serve.

Divine Inspirations

In the Geetha Lord Krishna says, “Arjuna! People give up revering and seeking Me, their very own Self. How foolish of them! They are not anxious to reach Me; but pursue lesser attainments that are untrue and transitory. The reason for this strange behaviour is the desire for quick results. People seek only that which is available here and now; that which is in a concrete form and is capable of being grasped by their senses; they are carried away by the attraction of flimsy pleasures. People also do not generally have the needed patience. They attach greater importance to the gross body, (sthula sarira). The achievement of Jnana (wisdom) is the true inner victory; it is won after long and arduous struggle. The few who are spiritually minded yearn for the Divine. Such wise people are indeed blessed. Look upon every act as but the execution of His order and as leading to His grace.”  -  BABA
