Sadhana for the week:

What is the highest Sadhana and how should we perform it?

Celestial spheres are revolving and disintegrating. Time is fleeting. Age follows age. Era succeeds era. Bodies that have taken birth, grow and end. But the urge to sanctify life with good works and good thoughts is nowhere evident. The fragrance of sincere spiritual practice (sadhana) is not found anywhere in the present times. Through the process of 'giving up’, great things can be achieved. Cultivate detachment, and the Lord will attach Himself to you. The past is beyond recovery; those days are gone. But tomorrow is coming towards you. Resolve to sanctify it with Love, Service and Sadhana. Love, adore and serve the Almighty Lord who is resident in all mankind and through that realise Him. That is the highest Sadhana. Serve every being as God. Give food to the hungry, food that is the gift of Goddess Nature; give it with love and humility. Give it, sweetened with the name of the Lord. Practice Sadhana relentlessly to discipline your mind and to develop your moral and mental strength. - Divine Discourse, Mar 29, 1968.

Chili recipe:

------------------------------------------------------------------

Spaghetti recipe

Ingredients

v  Spaghetti (dry, 2lbs)

v  Salt (to taste)

v  Diced zuchinni (2)

v  Dice yellow squash (2)

v  Chopped onion (1/2)

v  Colored peppers (1, optional)

v  Prego/Ragu Sauce (2 bottles)

Note: These are some general guidelines for cooking spaghetti. Do check with the instructions on the pasta packet as each of them may require different cooking times

 ·         Add 8 quarts of water, 1-2 tsps of salt and a teaspoon of olive or vegetable oil into a large stock pot

·         Bring the water to boil

·         Add 2lbs of dry spaghetti pasta into the boiling water. Note: Don’t break the pasta; it will soften up within 30 seconds and fit into the pot.

·         Stir the pasta. As the pasta starts to cook, stir it well with the tongs so the noodles don’t stick to each other (or the pot).

·         Test the pasta by tasting it (Follow the cooking time on the package, but always taste pasta before draining to make sure the texture is right. Pasta cooked properly should be al dente—a little chewy.

·         Drain the cooked pasta in a colander and run noodles under cold water to stop the cooking. Leave it with some cold water to prevent it from sticking and set aside

·         Heat quarter cup olive oil

·         Add 2 tsps of cumin seeds and let it crackle

·         Add the vegetables and saute’ them till they are cooked

·         Add cooked spaghetti, the sauce and salt (to taste).

·         Mix well and bring everything to a simmer

·    Turn-off heat and is ready to serve.

Divine Inspirations

In the Geetha Lord Krishna says, “Arjuna! People give up revering and seeking Me, their very own Self. How foolish of them! They are not anxious to reach Me; but pursue lesser attainments that are untrue and transitory. The reason for this strange behaviour is the desire for quick results. People seek only that which is available here and now; that which is in a concrete form and is capable of being grasped by their senses; they are carried away by the attraction of flimsy pleasures. People also do not generally have the needed patience. They attach greater importance to the gross body, (sthula sarira). The achievement of Jnana (wisdom) is the true inner victory; it is won after long and arduous struggle. The few who are spiritually minded yearn for the Divine. Such wise people are indeed blessed. Look upon every act as but the execution of His order and as leading to His grace.”  -  BABA
