Sadhana for the week:
What is the duty of every man towards women? On this Ladies day, Bhagawan reminds us of the value of womanhood.
"From time immemorial, women of Bharat, by their adherence to ideals have bestowed joy on this land and hence occupy an exalted position, which is higher than that of men. In the present times, many men look down upon women and treat them as mere servitors.  This is a big mistake.  The more a man respects women, the more he will be respected.  Men should not behave in an arrogant way towards women thinking  themselves to be more strong and powerful.  Today people are conferred various titles of repute like Padmashri, Padma Vibhushan, etc..  But the titles conferred on women since ancient times are Grihalakshmi(Goddess of the house), Illalu, Dharmapatni (righteous consort), Ardhangani(one half of the man), etc.  These are very high and sacred titles. How can women with such exalted titles to their credit be inferior to man? Every man should see to it that the women at their homes do not shed tears.  The husband has the right to point out the mistakes of his wife, but he must not use harsh words and hurt her feelings.  Never use harsh words with anyone.  Talk sweetly and softly.  Your family will attain peace and prosperity once you observe these principles.  Women of such exalted character have set great ideals of womanhood in Bharat.  Only if the women come up in society , will the whole world turn sacred. There is nothing in this world that women cannot achieve.  Recognizing the nature of such women, we must encourage them and give them equal opportunities in society.  However, in today’s world, there is no encouragement for women to cultivate high ideals.  In modern times, the ways of life have become so perverted that only evil thoughts, feelings and behavior rule the roost."    -Baba

Chili recipe:

------------------------------------------------------------------

Spaghetti recipe

Ingredients

v  Spaghetti (dry, 2lbs)

v  Salt (to taste)

v  Diced zuchinni (2)

v  Dice yellow squash (2)

v  Chopped onion (1/2)

v  Colored peppers (1, optional)

v  Prego/Ragu Sauce (2 bottles)

Note: These are some general guidelines for cooking spaghetti. Do check with the instructions on the pasta packet as each of them may require different cooking times

 ·         Add 8 quarts of water, 1-2 tsps of salt and a teaspoon of olive or vegetable oil into a large stock pot

·         Bring the water to boil

·         Add 2lbs of dry spaghetti pasta into the boiling water. Note: Don’t break the pasta; it will soften up within 30 seconds and fit into the pot.

·         Stir the pasta. As the pasta starts to cook, stir it well with the tongs so the noodles don’t stick to each other (or the pot).

·         Test the pasta by tasting it (Follow the cooking time on the package, but always taste pasta before draining to make sure the texture is right. Pasta cooked properly should be al dente—a little chewy.

·         Drain the cooked pasta in a colander and run noodles under cold water to stop the cooking. Leave it with some cold water to prevent it from sticking and set aside

·         Heat quarter cup olive oil

·         Add 2 tsps of cumin seeds and let it crackle

·         Add the vegetables and saute’ them till they are cooked

·         Add cooked spaghetti, the sauce and salt (to taste).

·         Mix well and bring everything to a simmer

·    Turn-off heat and is ready to serve.

Divine Inspirations

In the Geetha Lord Krishna says, “Arjuna! People give up revering and seeking Me, their very own Self. How foolish of them! They are not anxious to reach Me; but pursue lesser attainments that are untrue and transitory. The reason for this strange behaviour is the desire for quick results. People seek only that which is available here and now; that which is in a concrete form and is capable of being grasped by their senses; they are carried away by the attraction of flimsy pleasures. People also do not generally have the needed patience. They attach greater importance to the gross body, (sthula sarira). The achievement of Jnana (wisdom) is the true inner victory; it is won after long and arduous struggle. The few who are spiritually minded yearn for the Divine. Such wise people are indeed blessed. Look upon every act as but the execution of His order and as leading to His grace.”  -  BABA
